Solution: While I was playing it happened quite randomly, but enough to get irritated, that the game client crashed. Issue 2: Game crashing randomly in Windows 8.1 In short disable all but the active networkadapter When I disabled all the networkadapters, except the active networkadapter, it instantly found the hosted local game. In my case I had a LAN and WiFI adapter, when both adapters were on (WiFi not even connected) the computer was not able to find hosted local games. I found out that when a computer can't find a hosted local game (and you have a properly configured firewall and router) it's highly likely the case that your computer has multiple network adapters. Solution: When you hear that LAN games are not showing, you obviously instantly think about a firewall (software or hardware), port forwarding or a router that's simply not passing the data. I've been playing quite some Civilization V lately and have faced two problems, luckily I've also found a solution for both problems, so I thought I'd share it here and maybe it will be fixed in the near future.
